Samsung unveils the Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame

Another day, another Galaxy phone from Samsung, right? Right! That’s the way it seems anyway, as Samsung has officially announced two more additions to the Galaxy lineup. Say hello to the Young and Fame — and unfortunately, I can’t say we’re trolling you here.

Yep. Sammy is really about to add two phones to their repertoire that have names that instantly made me think of a Lil’ Wayne video gone wrong. But, before we dig in about the real pressing issue here, let’s go over specs for the two upcoming phones.

Samsung Galaxy Young Specs

• 3.27-inch display with 480 x 320 resolution
• 1GHz processor
• 768MB RAM
• 4GB internal storage and microSD slot (up to 64GB)
• 3MP rear camera
• WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0
• 1,300mAh battery
• Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Ok. So, what we have here is basically a downgraded version of the Galaxy S  III Mini – which, in itself is just a downgraded version of the Galaxy S III. Now let’s move on to the next.

Samsung Galaxy Fame Specs

• 3.5-inch display with 480 x 320 resolution
• 1GHz processor
• 512MB RAM
• 4GB internal storage and microSD slot (up to 64GB)
• 5MP rear camera
• VGA front-facing camera
• WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
• NFC (optional)
• 1,300mAh battery
• Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

See anything exciting there? That’s right you don’t because there’s not. Plain and simple. I’m definitely a fan of Samsung’s devices, but I really don’t want to see this become a repetitive process each year after the latest Galaxy flagship device is released.

“Hey! Here’s the new Galaxy S IV and 15 different spin-off models on a staggered release cycle that we’ll shove down your throat until next year. Rinse, wash, repeat!” No thanks.

There’s no word on pricing or availability as of yet, but I’m not sure anyone will care to stick around and find out. Regardless, there will be someone, so we’ll let you know as soon as we hear something concrete.
