According to Google, 2013 will be the first year that more people access the Internet from a mobile device than from a traditional laptop or desktop computer. For our purposes, it is perhaps more important that 47% of smart phone owners complete a search on their phone every day. If your law firm’s website does not support mobile devices, you’ll be finding yourself on the wrong side of the biggest trend in online marketing.
We generally test our websites on smart phones and tablets during the development stage. In most cases, they render almost perfectly. However, mobile users have come to expect very different things from the sites they access. They generally don’t require the depth of content or the glossy visuals that will slow page load time. Rather, they are looking for quick access to information and the ability to make use of their device’s built-in functionality such as mapping and click-to-call.
Skunkworks now develops two types of mobile sites. We offer responsive design websites that will adjust to whatever screen size is being used by the visitor. This accommodates everyone from iPhones, to iPads, to full blown iMacs. Apple products offer a convenient scale. On a responsive design site, the menus, imagery, and site structure will adjust as screen size decreases.
The other option we offer is mobile-optimized, smart phone specific websites. We are currently building these sites on the Duda Mobile platform. They offer functionality for potential clients to find your office, give you a call, or send you an email with a few easy taps.
We are proud to announce that we have just launched a mobile site for Vancouver personal injury lawyers Taylor & Blair. Accident victims are often not seated comfortably at a desk. Its important to reach them wherever they may be. A mobile-optimized website combined with a mobile-specific Google AdWords campaign was the perfect solution. You can see their mobile site at m.taylorandblair.com.
